1) When are training times?
We have 3 weekly training sessions! They are:
Tuesday, 7.30pm - 9pm; mainly for the freshie batch (junior training),
Wednesday, 7.30pm - 9pm; mainly for seniors and alumni (senior training), and
Saturday, 9.30am - 11am; for all Ardiente members (regular technique training)
2) What is the expected level of commitment? Do you have to attend all trainings to be considered a member?
You will be considered a member once you have formally accepted our confirmation email! (sent out after auditions and interviews)
Freshies are strongly encouraged to attend Tuesday and Saturday training sessions to help you progressively build up your basics while learning fun choreographies. Freshies will also be given priority to attend these sessions so you can learn more effectively and consistently throughout your time in Ardiente! Nevertheless, if you are unable to make it due to urgent or important events, please let us know your reasons beforehand!
That being said, join as many training sessions as you can and you will definitely see yourself improving in no time! Treat these training sessions as a way to stay healthy, relax, and meet your friends amidst the hustle of uni life :)
3) What is the dress code for training? Do I need to purchase latin heels/shoes for training?
When you first join, the dress code will be any comfortable active/dancewear such as tights and track pants, and socks!
As part of what makes us a Latin Ballroom club, we will also be purchasing latin pants and skirts (usually online), as well as latin shoes (for the gentlemen) and latin heels (for the ladies). There is a range of pricing for latin shoes/ heels (e.g. purchasing from either physical or online stores) so you won’t have to worry about breaking the bank.
4) Are Latin costumes and dancewear flashy/revealing?
Competition costumes are often vibrant to capture attention, but it is entirely up to you.
5) Do we have fixed partners?
No, we do not assign fixed partners. We typically rotate partners to allow everyone to learn how to dance with different people. This also promotes flexibility in partnering for competitions, and gives everyone an equal learning opportunity.
Of course, we understand that it is natural to have a preferred partner for competitions/ performances and we don’t place any rules on this.
6) Who conducts regular training for the club?
We have 3 qualified professional latin dance instructors from Aquilia Dance Academy that will guide you every step of the way. They are:

Whether or not to join performances/competitions is up to you! All members in Ardiente are given many performance and competition opportunities to sign-up for throughout the year :D Although it is optional, we strongly recommend members to give it a shot. We assure you that it’ll be an invaluable and fun learning experience :)
